This business was started by my Father Late Shri Y.P Malhotra, he was a Chemical Engineer in the year 1957 from UDCT Matunga, now called ICT Matunga Mumbai.
After completing his Chemical Engineering he had taken up job in Amar Dye Chem Shahad, Kalyan, as project engineer, full plant was erected by him at Shahad near Kalyan Thane.
Those days Tray dryers were not made in India, they were Imported from Switzerland & Germany. Looking at his capabilities Sarabhai Machinery offered him a job in their marketing company M/S Bakubhai Ambalal this was a marketing company for imported equipments which were used in chemical & Pharma industry. They usually were sole selling agents in India for imported machinery. Y.P Malhotra continued serving the company for 2years & than top management of the Sarabhai Machinery offered a helping hand to YP Malhotra.
They said "Malhotra why don't you make these tray dryers in India copying these imported ones", & said marketing will be done by Bakubhai Ambalal as done for imported dryers.
YP Malhotra agreed & started Manufacturing unit in 1964 in Goregaon By the name BOMBAY ENGINEERING WORKS, we were manufacturing tray dryers & were sold by Bakubhai Ambalal they were our sole selling agents till 1984. As time passed the profit margin on tray dryers went on declining as a result sole selling agency agreement was terminated & only commision was paid for any order brought by them.
I Myself Nitin Malhotra had completed Mechanical Engineering & Production Engineering in 1987 worked with LT Heavy Fabrication Division & Eutectic divison for 2years & joined our home company BOMBAY ENGINEERING WORKS in 1990.
We added Fluid Bed Dryers in 1992 to our product list, started 2nd company JMD Engineering Works.
In the year 1994 we added Vacuum Tray Dryer to our product list & started 3rd company Drytech Engineers Pvt Ltd.
In the year 1999 we added Drum Melting Chambers. In 2005 we added Fluid Bed Granulator to our product list. In 2009 we added Finned Tube Radiators to our Product list.
As Pharma industry progressed we also kept upgrading our skills, in manufacturing & we were the 1st company to incorporate dryers as per USFDA, GMP UKMCA standards. Our dryers are approved by USFDA GMP & are certified..
Here we are having 2 manufacturing locations in Mumbai having total turnover of 5crores per company. Having sales staff & dedicated service personals having capability to attend the service call from 24hrs to 48hrs (local within Thane & Boisar 24hrs & outside Mumbai 48hra) . All ancillary parts used by us in manufacturing these equipment are made by us in our ancillary units. We are independent & don't have to depend on others except for raw material MS ,SS etc , with complete machine shop with milling, turning capabilities.
